  The Philippine Board of Urology, founded in 1972, is the main accrediting body for residency training programs in Urology. Graduates of these accredited programs are candidates for Certification as specialists in the surgical field of Urology, hence known as Diplomates of the Philippine Board of Urology. The PBU is headed by the Chairman, who presides over a Board of Directors, who are overall in charge of formulating the requirements for residency program accreditation, conducting the Qualifying Written Examinations for Residents, and the Certifying Practical, Written, and Oral Examinations for accredited program graduates.
