I spent a semester working as an intern in the promotions department for Entercom Radio Stations in Portland, OR. I mainly did promotions for KGON (92.3) and then KISN (97.1), but was able to help out with other stations as needed. My main tasks involved coordination and execution of events, such as movie premieres and client events.

      Apr 2005 - Jan 2010
      Public Relations Coordinator

Within the period of one year of employment with the OSCPA, I moved from receptionist/administrative assistant to PR assistant to PR coordinator. As the position was new when I filled it, I shaped the position of PR coordinator to what it was when I moved on from the organization. I started out proofreading materials, managing ads for the website and handling more administrative type tasks, and eventually grew to become a key player in the department.Showing a penchant for details and organization, as well as enthusiasm for working with our outside editorial services, I was given the title "Assistant Editor" for our statewide publication, The Accountant. Our small editorial team put out 9 issues of the magazine per year, coordinating with other departments and contracted writers for content. Together with our financial literacy volunteer team, I worked to bring speakers to high schools, colleges, and other interested groups to discuss basic financial education. We were also involved in public events, such as the Starlight Parade, to spread the word about fiscal responsibility and the Ad Council's national Feed the Pig (TM) campaign. Show less

      Apr 2010 - Oct 2010
      Marketing/Admin and CPT

I was able to use my marketing and administrative background to assist in marketing initiatives and handle office duties both in the off-site office and on-site at the studio. I studied for and passed my certified personal training exam in 4 months - a time frame usually recommended for those who already possess a background in exercise. In less than 6 months, I began working one-on-one with personal training clients - helping to design their personalized fitness programs and discussing barriers and opportunities to change their dietary and fitness habits. I also worked alongside the owner/trainer to handle our large boot camp style fitness classes twice a day, structuring the workout and ensuring compliance and safe methods. Show less

    • Providence Health & Services

      Mar 2011 - Aug 2013
      Executive Administrative Assistant

As the first "touch" with the Medical Education Department, I had the responsibility to be professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and a clear communicator. I started off as a temp, but enjoyed working with the variety of professionals in and related to the department. I served primarily as executive assistant to the Chair of Medical Education, but my role was also as liaison with the faculty, residents, human resources and executive administration for the hospital.Since I had the capacity, trustworthiness and skill set needed, I was called on to act as project manager for the Chair's year-long grant project. Our project was a sentinel event tracking software, which I helped to design, edit and use, as well as train other users. My other duties varied from budgeting assistance to planning our annual graduation banquet and ceremony and any other projects my schedule would allow. Show less

    • Sound Vocational Services, Inc.

      Oct 2014 - now
      Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor

On paper, this sounds like a pretty straightforward job. I work with injured workers, medical providers, attorneys, claim managers, and other vocational specialists involved in Labor and Industries Claims in Washington state. My job is to assess an injured worker's ability to get back to work - whether it be at the job of injury or a transferable skills position. When neither of those scenarios are an option, I work with clients who are in retraining. In reality, this job is a never-ending puzzle. Working with people is what makes this job interesting (confusing, fun, frustrating...) and I wouldn't have it any other way. If nothing else, I'm definitely not bored. Show less
