  Manager of a team developing systems and providing pre- and post-sales IT support for clients of HDNL (recently rebranded as ‘Yodel’). HDNL is the commercial delivery arm of ShopDirect Group. Around 7,000 employees handle 120m+ parcels per year for clients such as Argos, Amazon, Bid-TV, John Lewis, Lands’ End, M&S, Next and ShopDirect.My team responsibilities included Business Analysis, New Customer Development, PC Support, Helpdesk, and Systems Migrations with the existing customer base. I set requirements, mentored staff, provided on-job training and championed other training avenues – Open College, Part-Time HE study, and use of other training companies.Project managed many projects with IT suppliers such as Computacenter and HP. Researched and wrote detailed specifications and tender documents, managed the supplier selection process – recommendations presented to senior managers and executive board.   With a focus on re-use and refurb in preference to buying new. And with lots of experiments in technique and method, took a three story late-Edwardian end-terrace back to brickwork to repair WWII bomb cracks. Electrics upgraded to 17th Edition, with full computer network run throughout (wired and wifi). Central heating upgraded.Water, gas and electricity supplies moved to allow conversion of cellar from damp (and in places sodden) to dry and usable, through a number of techniques (rendering with cement additives, specialist paints etc...) so avoiding the expense and hassle of full tanking. Flooring system devised using existing boards with addition of an insulating (heat and sound) membrane and surface to allow carpet (including tiles) and other floor finishes (with an eye to the landlord/tenant market).Also assisted on other properties, including a 1930s semi-detached with woodworm on the ground floor (all flooring and joists removed and replaced, under-floor ventilation cavity maintained but with insulation added between new joists and flooring), and a top-floor flat with expansion potential into the roof space - where to fit the staircase, how to strengthen the ceiling to support a new floor above, rough costs etc...
