My second job as a teenager was at the BEST pizza place around—a true hometown gem serving up authentic, made-from-scratch Italian-inspired comfort food with a Greek and Albanian twist. I spent 15 unforgettable years there, working every role you can imagine, full-time and part-time, and learning the entire operation from the ground up. We were more than just coworkers—we were family, a tight-knit crew who poured decades of love into what we did. That experience taught me the value of hard work, the magic of teamwork, and the joy of growing by proving yourself. It also sparked my lifelong passion for food—how it nourishes our bodies, connects us, and brings comfort like nothing else. To this day, I carry those lessons and my obsession with quality food wherever I go. And yes, it’s still the best pizza you’ll ever have! 😋 Show less

    • Thrive Behavioral Health

      Jul 2011 - Oct 2016

My journey in psychology began at Thrive Behavioral Health, where I worked with individuals navigating severe and chronic mental illnesses. These were people who, despite immense challenges, often maintained a level of independence and resilience that was both humbling and inspiring. I began my time there as a Case Manager, providing practical support for daily living while learning to navigate the complexities of healthcare systems and the diverse needs of my clients. What defined this chapter was its unpredictability—every day brought something new. Whether it was attending medical appointments, uncovering the intricacies of healthcare, or simply sharing in the unique, often strange, experiences of daily life, I found immense joy in connecting with others and learning from their journeys. As my role evolved, I was promoted to Residential Program Coordinator, which expanded my responsibilities and allowed me to further refine my leadership and organizational skills. In this capacity, I worked closely with staff and clients to ensure the smooth operation of residential programs, addressing both immediate needs and long-term strategies for individual well-being.Through this diversity of experiences and dynamic exposure to healthcare, I discovered that healing is as much about connection and understanding as it is about treatment. Supporting others in their journeys reminded me that even in the midst of difficulty, there is power and beauty in empathy, patience, and shared humanity.✨ Show less

      Oct 2018 - Feb 2024

My time at Butler Hospital was a profound and transformative chapter in my career, fulfilling a long-held goal of mine. As the only exclusively psychiatric hospital in the state since 1844, Butler Hospital has a storied history of excellence, education, research, and compassion in mental health care—a legacy I deeply admired and was proud to contribute to.As an Activities Therapist on the Intensive Treatment Unit—the hospital’s most severe and acute unit—I worked with individuals facing extreme and unimaginable challenges. Each day was unpredictable, exposing me to moments that were as surreal and bizarre as they were deeply human. These experiences offered unparalleled insight into the complexities of the human condition, revealing both the depths of trauma and the heights of resilience.I led therapeutic groups encompassing art therapy, CBT, meditation, psycho-social education, self-care, symptom management, crisis intervention, and more. These sessions were designed to create moments of healing, no matter how brief, and to help patients rediscover pieces of themselves amidst their struggles. What fascinated me most was discovering how each patient’s reality had unraveled, shaped by extraordinary circumstances, and how, even in the chaos, they still aspired for connection and validation. Amidst the intensity, I found unwavering joy in the opportunity to connect with others and bring comfort during their most vulnerable moments.During the COVID-19 pandemic, the challenges intensified, unveiling the broader impact of unprecedented illness on society. Yet, the privilege of showing up for my patients every day deepened my understanding of care and humanity. While this work brought immense fulfillment, it also inspired me to seek environments where thriving, not survival, is the focus. Leaving was bittersweet, but I carry with me invaluable lessons and insights, driven by a continued craving to study and deepen my understanding of the field. Show less
