      Residence Director

As a Residence Director for Siena College, I oversaw a community of 300 residents with 13 student staff members. This community housed a variety of class years and was a combination traditional style and suite style hall. This eclectic mix of styles and class years helped me establish the ability to adapt to a variety of challenges that come with working in housing and residence life. This skill has served me well throughout my career, understanding that I need to focus on the situation in front of me. I measured my success in being able to connect with students regardless of their background. With Siena being a small community of only 3000 students total, I found that community development and relationship building was key to success. This has proven true even outside of Siena's small community.I was also able to build some professional competencies outside of the traditional Residence Director Role. I worked with the First Year Student Experience team. Through this experience, I was able to see how important it was for students to have a connection to their campus through engagement opportunities. This helped abate feelings of homesickness, self-doubt, and stress for students who participated. Show less

      Resident Director

As a Resident Director for Ohio University, I oversaw several types of communities. During my time, I was able to work in communities that oversaw first year students in traditional style housing, second year students in suite style housing, and Honors student communities. These communities ranged from 200 residents with 12 student staff members to 500 residents with 17 student staff members. It was a privilege in being able to guide these students in their development and help foster their growth. I also established a Hall Council for each of the residential communities that I oversaw. These different elements allowed me to guide students on their personal development and find pathways towards being successful students. Helping students find these pathways and discover their potential is what empowered me in my role. This role also allowed for me to build some leadership skills. I was able to serve on committees centered on Student Staff Recruitment and Selection, Student Staff Training, Professional Staff Recruitment and Selection, Residential Curriculum Development, Departmental Recognition, and be the advisor for our National Residence Hall Honorary Chapter. These experiences have served me well in my career, providing me skills in leadership, teamwork, and process and event management. Show less

      Success Advisor

As a Success Advisor for the College of Business, I serve all students who need academic advising or career coaching assistance. I work in conjunction with the Academic Advisors and Career Coaches to review students academic progress, sharpen their professional resume's and cover letters, and guide them in career exploration and job application strategies. I also assist in teaching courses on career preparation and student acclimation. Topics covered in these courses include networking, interviewing, LinkedIn development, campus resources, and student wellbeing strategies. This role allows for me to build relationships with students and guide them on their academic and professional journeys. I get to connect with students on an individual level and help them on a path of identifying their strengths, weaknesses, passion areas, and establish a sense of self-authorship. This is an incredibly rewarding and motivating experience that I am very thankful to have! Show less
