      Technical Safety Technical Authority for 23 manned and unmanned gas platforms and one onshore terminal in the Southern North Sea. Subject Matter Expert for NUIs, helicopters and marine. Responsible for Safety Cases, HSE liaison, standards deviations. Customers are project teams, operations department and rig contractors. Team leader for 4 technical safety engineers.Achievements:1990 Gained first UK approval to remove fire pumps from installations to facilitate de-manning.1992 First use of ERRV sharing between a number of installations.1995 Obtained only ever exemption from UK pipeline regulations for riser ESD valves.1997 Proposed innovative evacuation solutions, which were later adopted by BP as the Jigsaw Project.2000 Obtained approval to access installations via small workboat.2000 Ceased using QRA, replacing it with Well-Reasoned Arguments in all safety cases.2003 Gained approval for a single jacket installation despite strong regulator pressure for bridge linked LQ/TR.2005 Gained only UK approval for moving rigs without shutting down installations.2005 Successfully countered Improvement Notice on ship collision.2005 Gained regulator approval for using W2W & increasing POB on NUIs.2009 Issued study that demonstrated deluge is ineffective in gas jet fires & declassified it to non-safety critical.2013 Trialed first ever use of Ampelmann W2W motion compensated gangway as means of evacuation & gained approval from HSE to use it as a replacement for lifeboats.2016 Gained regulator approval for 'de-complexing' an NUI & reducing visit frequency from 100 to 12 times/year. Drove the removal of the helideck, vent stack, TEMPSC, LQ, crane, kill system, most Ex equipment & gas detection and utilised W2W, solar power & ALDs. This reduced risks, made substantial operational cost savings & prolonged the field life potential. Show less
