A base-case channel complex model is built at the resolution of individual sandstone beds. The distribution of porosity and permeability within these beds mimics grain-size trends of fining in the vertical and lateral directions. The influence of various geological parameters and modelling choices on reservoir performance has been assessed through water-flood flow simulation modelling. Omission of the compression method, and the bed-scale hierarchical level in reservoir models, leads to a three-fold and two-fold increase in oil recovery at water-breakthrough respectively, because of overly-connected flow units at all hierarchical levels. INSTITUTION: Irish Centre for Research in Applied Geosciences (iCRAG)TITLE: Hierarchical characterization and modelling of deep-water slope channel reservoirsSHORT ABSTRACT: A new static modelling workflow was developed for building models of deep-water slope channel complexes based on a hierarchical conceptual scheme using industry-standard object-based modelling methods and a new plugin applying the compression algorithm. Assisted Geoscience Lecturers by helping undergraduate and postgraduate geoscience students with their questions during practical sessions and field courses on Structural Geology, Sedimentology and Geomodelling.
