    • Blackbird Parlour

      Jan 2003 - Jan 2003
      Bartender

Actual Dates: May 2011 - Dec 2011Blackbird Parlour was a short-lived but popular bar/eatery hot on the gentrification wave that made Williamsburg the dynamic international destination it is today. Part barn, part private library, and part coffeehouse in decor and ambiance, Blackbird featured a small and mostly unrecognizable wine list and a globally influenced menu of small plates to share. Weekends here were mostly known for their delicious brunches where I provided signature cocktails such as my Basil Infused Rum-O-Nade and late night DJ sets with a motley crew of rambunctious locals. • Hell Gate Social

      Sept 2003 - Sept 2003
      Bartender

Actual Dates: Sept 2008 - Jun 2011Update: So beloved was this local hotspot that in 2017 a reunion party was held in it honor at its sister bar, William Hallet, inviting former staff behind the taps in rapid succession and trivia contests for customers to relive the glory years.Just minutes away from Queens' famous Hell Gate Bridge, this event and art bar was a community staple from 2006-2013. With an off-the-beaten path location and a subtly speakeasy-type entrance, Hell Gate Socials clientele was a mix of of commuting creatives, underground music aficionados, and local artists whose work were featured in a tri-monthly rotation on the walls of the venue. All bartenders were involved in the planning and promotion weekly events and encouraged to be creative with their hosting. The facility included a stage, DJ booth, projector wall for film events and a medium sized back yard. Aside from work with weekly game nights, seasonal theme parties, dance/DJ events, live bands, film premiers, and Saturday afternoon BBQs, I was personally involved in bringing to the venue a monthly Rockabilly Burlesque Show with a full band and co-hosted Pin-Up Cocktails every Sunday evening, a dress-up event, providing seasonally inspired spins on classic cocktails against the backdrop of pinup films for our vintage minded patrons.
