  Difference Day is an Event organised by Bozar/Brussels Platform for Journalism, Evens Foundation and iMinds to highlight the right to freedom of speech. Freedom of Expression implies respect for the opinion of others. It recognises the fact that there is a difference between each of us. To celebrate freedom of expression is to celebrate diversityOn May 3rd we invited speakers and show films about the challenges of the (free) press.The culmination was the European Gala of Freedom of Expression. The Vrije Universiteit Brussel and the Université Libre de Bruxelles honoured a journalist, writer, cultural thinker, artist or any other person, undertaking or institution that has made a vital contribution that reflect the freedom of thinking and expression in an ever changing, democratic society. The winners of three other press awards will be called onto the stage of the prestigious Salle Henri Le Boeuf in the Centre for Fine Arts.The entire day will honour European and World Wide journalistic work in terms of press freedom, journalism practice and reflection on freedom of speech, and represent the international and European dimension of journalistic work and freedom of thinking. Brussels, as the multilingual capital of Europe, marked by the presence of a wide range of international institutions and media, is the perfect city for this event.
