      Teacher

At weekends I taught Irish to Junior Certificate (High School) and Leaving Certificate (College) students, working as a sole trader from a family home in Kilkenny City, it helped pay my way through college. The Irish language is a compulsory subject in Irish schools. I became fluent in the language through working at Irish language camps in the past. Helping students to improve their grasp on the language, and achieve a lasting understanding of Irish as I did, was a very rewarding job to take on. I developed individual lesson plans for students based on their current grasp of the language, the timing of upcoming examinations and also the time with which I would have with them. Show less

    • Croke Park

      May 2017 - Sept 2017
      Stadium Tour Guide

During the summer of 2017, I worked as a tour guide in Croke Park. Croke Park is the home of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) and is the 3rd largest stadium in Europe.I gave tours to groups of up to 50 people, bringing them all around the stadium giving all the history and facts about the grounds. Groups were varied. There would be Irish groups, tourist groups, language schools, primary schools and quite often a mixture of each. I answered questions and altered the tour to cater for the varying ages, nationalities and levels of knowledge about the grounds and GAA that the groups may have.I gained a lot of confidence in public speaking, whilst working with bookings and at the gift shop provided me with further experience of costumer relations. • McCurdy Associates Consulting Engineers Ltd

      Jan 2018 - Jan 2018
      Civil Engineering Internship

During the winter college break in 2018, I spent time working with McCurdy Associates in Co. Kilkenny. I worked in the office alongside the owner Mr. Sam McCurdy, gaining first hand experience of all company operations from an owner with over 30 years experience in the Civil Engineering and Consultancy industry.I assisted on a number of projects. I analyzed Ordnance Survey maps to calculate land areas, and identify various features to assist with planning applications.I performed feasibility studies on site entrances, analyzing potential site entrances and adjoining road conditions, and checking their feasibility against the relevant standards. The largest project on which I worked involved designing the initial layout submission for a one-stop border post (OSBP) for a new toll road on the African continent. Using hand sketching and a final AutoCAD model, I designed an OSBP in accordance with appropriate international standards that would both cater for the predicted traffic levels, be user friendly and also leave opportunity for future expansion.Along with all the projects I assisted with, being in the office with Mr. McCurdy allowed me to have first hand experience of how to run such a firm. I was allowed to listen in on conference calls, proof read tender submissions for international projects and also gain invaluable knowledge about the industry through general conversation. Show less

    • Camogie Association

      May 2019 - now
      CCAO - Public Relations Officer

I currently work as the PRO for the CCAO - Third Level Camogie Association. The CCAO is the governing body of Third Level Camogie throughout Ireland. We organise competitions for over 30 college camogie teams in all 4 provinces which caters for upwards of 1,000 players. The work involves a variety of jobs. Organising fixtures and advertising them across our social media platforms is the main task under the heading of PRO. Running of all of the @3rdLevelCamogie social media sites is the other major task.Due to the nature of the organisation, we have a small committee, so overlapping of jobs is necessary and we all assist each other in a variety of work. Organising events, acquiring sponsors for our competitions, increasing participation, formulation of the associations governing rules are just an example of the many issues that we deal with during the course of the year. I analyze the statistics across our platforms in order to identify how we can further increase engagement online with the association, and in turn make the association a more attractive proposition for potential sponsorship and most importantly giving our players the coverage they deserve.
