    • UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY

      Apr 2017 - Aug 2017
Director Of Operations & Logistics, Department of Defense Warrior Games

As a Senior Project Manager, I was honored to be hand picked to plan, program and lead the Joint Operations Center (JOC) supporting the 2017 Department of Defense (DoD) Warrior Games. This “high visibility” special (mini-Olympic) event was designed to provide outreach to the American public featuring the resiliency of Wounded Warriors. The event was personal and important work on many levels. My Navy career went full circle, as my first job was the assistant men's gymnastics coach at the U.S Naval Academy. The JOC provided an area-wide command center that coordinated all aspects of an adaptive sports competition between United States, United Kingdom, and Australian Armed Forces service teams in multiple venues throughout the City of Chicago. The Games required the care and feeding of 265 athletes, 400 family members, 250 staff members and were valued at over $16 million dollars. The JOC coordinated with Local, Regional, and National Command Centers to provide situational awareness for first-responders, city officials, local law enforcement, and federal agencies. As the Operations Lead, I was responsible for meeting strategic critical requirements specific to the games and DoD personnel safety. Operational duties included developing a communications plan, anti-terrorism force protection security analysis plan, medical training and logistics support plans, talent management requirements for sourcing, recruiting and staffing over 250 different competencies, Reserve integration and support, financial and budget management plans. I also provided leadership for requirements involving, supervision, delegating, daily strategic communication briefings for Senior Leadership, developed game specific policy, employee development specific to the games, counseling, mentoring and awards ensuring the games were successful.
