      High School Diploma Army JROTC/ROTC

      Activities and Societies: JROTC, Rifle Drill Team, Rangers, Drama, Bicycling Club I enjoyed my English literature courses especially as well as psychology and drama courses. I was especially happy to perform in high school plays and the musical my senior year. I was also in Army JROTC for a year studying under a retried Army Airborne Ranger who trained us as Rangers, in Rifle Drill Team, and "life".

      Activities and Societies: International Studies, International Students Association, Asian Concerns Group, Term in the Far East, International Night, Ballroom Dancing I studied Sociology and Asian Studies. I also studied German. I visited Germany and East Germany in January, 1990, right after the Berlin Wall came down. I also participated on the Term in the Far East, and travelled to Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, and Thailand. I studied the Arts of China in Taiwan and then went to Thailand to study Thai, Buddhism, and SE Asian History and Culture. We lived with Thai host families while attending Chiang Mai University.

      Activities and Societies: I was an exchange student at Chiang Mai University from St. Olaf College for a semester. I was also there for the summer of 1993, studying advanced Thai. I attended Chiang Mai University twice, first as an exchange student from St. Olaf College and then later as a graduate student in the Advanced Study of Thai program in 1993.

Most of the courses were online but I attended two courses on campus: 1) Conflict Management & Negotiation and 2) Leadership Skills for Global Leaders.

      Activities and Societies: Student Educators Against AIDS, a volunteer group teaching HIV prevention to students. Also, Hui Ola Pono, the School of Public Health graduate student leadership group. I studied for my PhD in Sociology, focusing on Medical Sociology. I also studied for my Masters in Public Health. I wrote my dissertation about HIV in Thailand, analyzing Thailand's health care system and how Buddhist monks and nuns provide care, prevention, and treatment services for communities affected by HIV.
