Alongside APD/CAST, our CASTMED Paramedics are assigned to the City of Austin Joint Agency Rescue Task Force, and are readily available to respond to acts of violence, such as shootings, stabbings, vehicular assaults, explosions, and other emergency requests for assistance. Our partnership with APD/CAST enables us to deploy quickly and effectively into semi-permissive environments that are typically inaccessible by traditional EMS providers, providing an additional layer of security. Voir moins Clinical Specialist assigned to the Rescue Team under the Special Operation Division exercises independent judgment, performs patient access in various rescue conditions (High/Low Angle, Confined Space, Trench, Swift water, HazMat, Infectious Disease Response) performs basic and advanced medical procedures to access, stabilize, evacuate, and transport patients to an appropriate medical facility, as defined by the Medical Director and Clinical Operating Guidelines. Provides pre-hospital emergency medical care effectively and safely in emergent conditions and environments as part of a City of Austin medical team. Special Operations Rescue Clinical Specialist support Texas Task Force 1 with swiftwater boat teams, USAR resources, Emergency Medical Task Force 7 Infectious Disease Response Unit and deployment through the Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid. Voir moins The medic is the junior credentialed position that works alongside a senior ALS credentialed provider (EMS Clinical Specialist-Field or Captain-Field). A Medic can be certified at the EMT-Basic, Advanced-EMT (AEMT), EMT-Paramedic, or Licensed Paramedic level. They have the opportunity to perform both basic and a limited number of advanced procedures such as: i-gel airway placement, nebulized medication administration, Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP), and 12 Lead ECG acquisitions.
