Launched in 2018, WOKN has grown in leaps and bounds to become an award-winning platform and the trusted voice for women and girls. WOKN is a fully-fledged digital media platform with a vibrant social media presence on Facebook, X, LinkedIn, and TikTok. WOKN is one of Kenya’s reliable sources of information on gender-sensitive content covering diverse thematic areas including Politics, Climate, Peace and Security, Gender Justice, Health, Economic Empowerment, and SRHR as guided by SDG 5: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.ACHIEVEMENTSProactively monitored various local/regional public sources, from mainstream media to social media and chat apps, to detect misleading or malign content, such as hate speech.Participated in all agreed CfA training and mentorship activities, including a kick-off/orientation meeting to understand project parameters and deliverables.Edited and published data-driven fact-checks over the contract period.Ensured visibility of content by showcasing the content produced by the desk.Shared monthly social media metrics and audience analytics, and tracked public engagement with published fact-checks.
