I evaluated the preclinical safety and efficacy profiles of candidate microbicides developed to prevent the transmission of HIV.I focused on the development of a murine model of HIV-HSV co-infection in order to study the synergy between these two clinically relevant STDs. My hope was to outline the underlying biology of this synergy and determine whether microbicides could block these interactions.

      Sept 2012 - May 2013
      Anatomy Tutor

I tutored 1st year medical students in anatomy. I ran weekly sessions where I tagged different anatomical structures and quizzed my students. Afterwards, I would go through the answers and review some core ideas and high-yield information for both their written and practical exams. I also participated in preparing the larger scale mock practical exams aimed at preparing the students for their end-of-the-year practical exam.
