The report related to the verification of ‘quantum’ as part of formal arbitration proceedings. Additionally, part of the commercial team drafting replies to points of claim, further & better particulars etc. defending arbitration on a central London office development.(July 1991 – July 1992) - Site based administration of a £30 million office fit-out with specific responsibility for the £12 million M&E works. Duties also included the re-procurement of the works following a fire that completely destroyed the fit-out works just before the completion of the project.(May 1991 – June 1991) - Based in Budapest Hungary during the acquisition of a Hungarian property company. The QS department was responsible for the procurement and financial administration of the civils works section valued in excess of US$ 1,000 Million. The procurement and administration included for all typical direct and subcontract works, major plant, lifting gear, and bulk materials purchases. The duties also included strategic planning and drafting of Contracts to minimize exposure to potential claims and disputes.(May 1993 – October 1995) - Administration of various public and private sector projects in Hong Kong and Vietnam including a mixed cross section of high rise residential developments, hotels, office developments, factories, power stations, Hong Kong airport and ship refurbishment facilities. The specific works under supervision of CSC1 covers the construction of 21 kilometers of tunnels and 18 underground stations under two civils contracts (US $ 1500 million), and the installation of 60 lifts and 260 escalators under a lifts & escalators contract (US $ 450 million).Part of the Contract Administration team whose primary function is managing the financial and contractual/claims aspects of the above contracts, including typical tasks such as payment certification, variation account, cost reporting etc. My specific duties at CSC1 (in addition to the above) included the complete responsibility for administration of financial matters for the US $ 450 million lifts & escalators contract. Tasks typically included administration of ‘day to day’ issues, agreeing variations, foreseeing and defending claims, reaching agreements in advance of potential disputes, preparation of monthly financial statements, payments, revisions to interim payment schedules etc. including presentations to the MRTA Board of Directors.
