      Market Research Officer

This was my first job after University and during this role I learnt all aspects of market research. Working closely with internal clients, I helped them realise their objectives through a combination of in-house and out-sourced market research methods. I became fully conversant in qualitative, quantitative and desk research. Training was key in this role and I became proficient in MS office as well as a range of business communication skills. This enabled me to become highly accomplished in report writing and presentations. I learnt to be very thorough and meticulous in all aspects of work, especially when in consultation with the client to ascertain and ultimately achieve their objectives. Show less

    • National Extension College

      Sept 2003 - Nov 2006
      Sales & Marketing Executive

The main function of this role was promoting the NEC’s distance education courses by planning and executing sales and marketing campaigns. This involved increasing sales within two key market sectors: Schools and Childcare. Under my management, the Childcare sector became the companies biggest income-generating sector. This role involved time-sensitive mailings/ promotions, telephone follow-up and face-to-face meetings. I also kept abreast of government policy and funding streams, which enabled me to tender and secure lucrative contacts with many local councils. During this period I enhanced my time management and organisational skills whilst overseeing the restructuring of our entire suite of childcare courses. I also represented The National Extension College at trade-fairs and conferences. Show less

    • The English Spirit Distillery

      Jun 2016 - Oct 2018
      Sales and Marketing Manager

The English Spirit Distillery is a small batch copper pot distillery based at Great Yeldham Hall, Great Yeldham in stunning North Essex. You may be familiar with our other distillery at the old salt depot in Dullingham. This will only be open for a short while longer as we are shifting production to Great Yeldham as part of a big expansion project. The English Spirit Distillery was set up over six years ago by Dr. John Walters (a biochemist from Oxford). It was his aim to produce a diverse range of spirits of outstanding quality and we are very proud of what we have achieved. We are one of only a handful of distilleries who actually make their gin from scratch. We use local sugar beet to make an exception smooth 54% vol premium vodka, which we then distill again, to make our fabulous Dr J’s gin. We also make the only rum made in the UK, fine English Single malt, apple brandy and seasonal eau de vie, grappa and liqueurs. It is testament to John’s hard work and knowledge that last year we won 18 international awards for our spirits. This year the pile is currently at about 9 (but its only June). Not only do we aim to produce the best quality spirits we also aim to be the largest small batch distillery in the world. Through our continued focus on quality we have seen our success and demand for our spirits grow. Now we are operating a 24/7 production operation to keep up with demand and are up-scaling production at our Great Yeldham site – ensuring that the focus remains on quality.http://www.englishspiritdistillery.com Show less
