      • I developed and validated the first ever “Applied” undergraduate degree accredited by the Association for Nutrition. • The degree is a mixture of predominately public health, psychology and nutrition science, and was designed to reduce the theory-practice gap, developing “practical practitioners"; graduates who not only know the theory but have also put it into practice in real life situations• I design and deliver content, co-ordinate the academic provision and provide pastoral support for students. • My research interests include use of technology in nutrition, capsaicin (from chillis) and performance, and nutrition competency in fitness professionals and coaches.• I have presented my research at a number of conferences including: • British Association of Sport and Exercise Science • International Society for Behaviour, Nutrition and Physical Activity • Solent Learning and Teaching Community Conference • Higher Education Academy Annual Conference • Research and Innovation Conference• I have extensive experience in public outreach and science communication, including nutrition blogs on the University website, and expert comments to media.• I advise the New Forest and Southampton marathons on nutrition, and have created leaflets and cooking videos with them.• I provide nutrition support to a member of the GB wheelchair rugby team.• I work with athletes in the High-Performance Academy from sports such as athletics, basketball, rhythmic gymnastics, and football. • I have recently advised an Antarctic explorer, manipulating and monitoring body composition and providing nutrition plans in a situation where there was minimal research. I also worked closely with a psychologist due to the body issues that the changes in body composition could induce.• I manage a wide range of performance nutrition practices such as meal planning, food hygiene, travel, exercising at altitude, food availability abroad, supplement use and safety, and hydration. Conversations with students take place through fast-paced online text-based live chats and asking questions on the website. After two weeks, students vote for their favourite scientist. As the winner of the food zone, I received a prize of £500 to communicate my work to the public.
