  As a Sergeant at Douglas County Sheriff's Office, I was responsible for first-line supervision of several patrol teams consisting of 10 to 14 employees. As a Sergeant, I also worked for three years in the Professional Standards Section as an Internal Affairs investigator. Also as a Sergeant, I was a first-line supervisor in the Detentions Center, managing a team of about 20 sworn and civilian employees who were responsible for the care and control of 300 inmates. Finally, as a Sergeant, I spent the last 5 years as a special team supervisor for the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Unit, managing a team of 11 employees who were tasked with numerous special projects, including dignitary escorts, special events such as bicycle races, holiday celebrations and the like. The unit I was in charge of was responsible for traffic enforcement, crash investigation to include property damage crashes, injury and fatal crashes.
