    • Kanakuk Kamps

      May 2003 - Aug 2005
      Counselor, Kid-sitter

While working as a counselor at Kanakuk Kamps over three of my summers during my years in college, I had the opportunity to spend one and two week sessions with campers from all over the United States and various countries. I spent no less than two months at a time at the camp each summer except for when we had nights off and 2-4's (24 hour break periods). Prior to these weeks we had extensive training in camp operations from safety procedures for using the equipment for archery, shooting, high and low ropes courses, trampoline, kayaks, sailboats, motorboats, swimming pool equipment and large pool toys like the trapeze, water slide, aqua-tramp, and blob to learning what is expected of a camp counselor in the cabin with students, one on one porch time, during certain events and activities, and in the study of the Bible. I was also able to spend a portion of my last summer helping the directors family by watching over their children throughout the busy kamp days as well as for special activities and events in the evening, for the first month of my stay that summer at camp before taking on a cabin for three sessions of students over the course of the last month. • Grace Community Church -- Bartlesville

      May 2007 - Jul 2012
      Associate Youth Director

As the Associate Youth Director at Grace Community Church, I was in charge of the programming side our the ministry. Coordinating the yearly big events as well as the logistics of our weekly Wednesday evening activities, the youth praise team, the yearly summer mission trip, the quarterly missional serving opportunities, and the big fundraiser that raised money for our mission trip, the yearly garage sale, were some of my primary responsibilities. In the summers we were also given the opportunity to have anywhere from two to four interns that myself and the Youth Director were in charge or educating about the church, it's functioning, and giving them the opportunity to learn first hand what it takes to run a youth ministry. This included morning teaching times for an hour and a half, weekly discipleship and accountability meetings, budget and planning meetings, and hands-on experience. I was also in charge of a small group for much of that time, having the opportunity to pour more individual time into a group of girls as they grew and eventually graduated from high school. I also gained some experience in public speaking through this job as I was asked to do some of the speaking at our events, or through the local university. Some of my volunteer experience at this time included occasional work in the nursery at church, Vacation Bible School worship leader, and member of worship team 4 for the church.
