  Teacher of Modern Greek as a second or foreign language

  In February 2013, I applied for and was admitted to my department's graduate students' traineeship program (University of Patras, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Department of Philology). I was chosen for the project "Teaching Greek as a second or foreign language". March primarily included seminars with my supervising teacher, who introduced me to methods and bibliography relevant to the venture I was about to undertake. In April, I relocated to Ioannina, to the institution where I was to carry out my traineeship, the Center for the Study of the Hellenic Language and Culture (HeLaS) of the University of Ioannina. Initially, I observed other professionals teach and received their guidance, then I was assigned to teach on my own. While in HeLaS, I also undertook administrative duties and assisted the Center's personnel. In May, back in Patras, I continued my survey on this field and prepared practice material for use of my students in Ioannina. Show less

  Assistant to the human resources officer & assistant cook

  As required by the Greek State, I fulfilled my military duty from January 21 through October 22, 2014. I joined the Hellenic Navy and received my basic training for a period of one and a half months. I was then appointed to serve as seaman on "Nikiforos Fokas" frigate for the remainder of my service obligation. I was initially assigned general duties, but after proving my high sense of responsibility, the ship administration reassigned me as assistant to the human resources officer when at dock, and as an assistant cook onboard.   My principal duties as office manager of the S.R.N.G. were: - communication (telephone, email, surface mail),- translation and text editing (mainly English to Greek),- maintaining detailed, up-to-date office records, - assisting the Board of Directors which runs the S.R.N.G. (attending meetings, keeping minutes),- welcoming and extensively educating visitors as to the S.R.N.G.'s activities,- errands (banks, post office, purchase of office supplies).
