  While with the Geographic Information Systems department, my work involved crafting Oracle PL/SQL queries to transform data or select from various geospatial databases. My fabrication of a routing engine using LANL's NetworkX library took the entire collection of state roadways into a directed graph and could then find the shortest path based upon the restrictions required of the route against our available data (i.e. height, width, weight). Other tasks involved programming custom tools utilizing Google Earth and the scripted generation of KML formatted data sets. Show less

  Mechanical Design Engineer

  During my time with Kiewit Underground District, my aim was to specialize in the design of temporary structures and construction devices. Examples include: custom below-the-hook lifting devices and spreader beams. Lubricant storage and dispensing. Piped utilities. Rigging and handling of TBM components. Concrete formwork. Mobile tunnel scaffolding and gantries. Rebar cage guying, handling, and stability. Drill/shoot muck boxes and buckets. Reinforced concrete footings for fabrication of an offshore oil rig module. Pipe carriers for penstock sections. Personal fall protection anchorages and systems. Custom deep foundations drilling tooling and drill rig accessories. Also, I peer-reviewed designs by others both internal and external; estimated for contract bids; and collaborated to support over 300 of my peers during my stay.
