      Fire department chief

Hempstead is one of the busiest fire departments in Nassau County on Long Island, responding to over 1000 emergency alarms a year.Established over 175 years ago, the department provides 24 hour fire and medical response for the 50,000+ residents and property of the Incorporated Village of Hempstead located in the state of New York. The department consists of 5 Engine Companies, 3 Hose Companies, 2 Truck Companies, a rescue squad, and a fire police squad that respond out of 6 fire stations. The fire department’s membership, which is over 200 personnel, consists of firefighters and fire-medics. My 21 year tenure at Hempstead certainly provided an invaluable experience and shifts filled with numerous opportunities for training from a front line firefighter to my last role of Chief. My accolades during this exciting time of my career include the following:►Promoted from Firefighter → Captain → Assistant Chief → Chief ►Managed $2M budget and led department of 230 fire fighters, 6 buildings, and 25 pieces of apparatus.►Oversaw Training, Finance, LOSAP Pension, Uniforms, Apparatus and Maintenance, Ordering, and Social committees Show less
