    • Growth International Volunteer Excursions (GIVE)

      Jun 2013 - Oct 2013

Presented college students with GIVE's volunteer opportunities by travelling to campuses for one week periods and raising awareness through flyers, announcements, and meetings with university staff. Each week involved speaking in front of large groups of students, learning about campus events, and meeting with professors, student groups, and officials. These campus trips culminated with a day of informational sessions that required use of multimedia and extensive knowledge of the programs and company. Every campus visit required large amounts of travel and use of social media and face-to-face public interaction. While on these trips I was tasked with maintaining volunteer safety and happiness while also ensuring that education and construction projects were completed efficiently and appropriately by both volunteers and locals. These tasks involved communication between local affiliates, students, and coworkers in varying degrees of English and Spanish.Further, guides were tasked with planning ahead to make sure that accommodations and events were set before the groups arrived. Finally guides sought to educate the students about GIVE's projects, teaching them the goals of sustainability and change in a developing country like Nicaragua. Show less
