I was asked to join the organisation by a senior cardiologist that I worked with at Sir Charles Gardiner into a new role especially created for me.My role managed daily operations for diagnostic testing services and had responsibility for business development. As part of my sales role, I met with hospital executives and a wide GP customer base to secure contacts for outsourced diagnostic testing and cardiac referrals.• Won a major contract for the Geraldton Regional Hospital to be the sole supplier of cardiac services. This was an ongoing lucrative contract and was part of a very competitive tender process• Achieved year-on-year increased diagnostic testing revenue resulting in KPI bonus payment• Initiated and organised GP education sessions. Secured approval from the Australasian College of General Practitioners for this to contribute towards continuing professional development. Conducting these courses increased referrals and promoted the practice.• Improved the attraction and retention of staff:- Designed a novel contractual commitment through paying for two capable existing team members to undertake the QUT ultrasound course in exchange for their ongoing tenure.- Negotiated improved pay and conditions for the sonographers in exchange for increased productivity and a contractual commitment to Western Cardiology.- Oversaw the professional development of staff.• Reviewed business-wide expenditure on various technical items (consumables and equipment) and services resulting in significant annual savings of up to $30,000 per equipment stream. • Oversaw the diagnostic capital equipment replacement program inclusive of market review and competitor tender evaluation process.• Reduced Western Cardiology’s “at fault” OSH risk through a comprehensive review of equipment, environment and procedure protocols.       RCH is a nationally funded centre for cardiac transplantation and for complex corrective cardiac surgery. The diagnostic Cardiology Department carries out 40,000 tests per year. My role oversees the cardiac diagnostic testing and technical department, managing a team of 15 allied health professionals. It includes:• All aspects of personnel management for my team and others including cardiac technologists, cardiac sonographers and student scientists (interns), nurses and doctors.• Managing the daily operations of the RCH outpatient and inpatient diagnostic testing services to ensure the efficient use of all equipment and personnel resources to provide clinical service within best practice guidelines and budgets.- Supporting a group of 11 paediatric cardiologists, eight advanced physician trainees (Fellows) and three paediatric cardiac surgeons.- Increasing current diagnostic testing revenue and developing new diagnostic testing revenue streams.
