As a Mentor on the National YPC, I work to advise and assist any current members of the Council on their independent projects—organizing a preparedness fair. As a Chair of the Region II YPC, I currently lead the Financial Preparedness Team in researching existing financial preparedness resources for youth and determining how they could be more accessible to middle and high schoolers. As a Co-Chair on the FEMA National Youth Preparedness Council, my role involves leading the Citizen Responder Team. This year, we have been working on a toolkit of project outlines and potential activities for students interested in becoming involved in disaster preparedness. As the Region II Member on the FEMA YPC, I have had the opportunity to pursue preparedness projects within my community. I have organized a preparedness fair and coordinated disaster preparedness training for students at my high school. Independently, I also wrote a presentation on the essentials of disaster preparedness for students in middle and high school.
