      Manufacturing Engineer Intern

      As an intern I was tasked with learning the basically roles and responsibilities of a Boeing Manufacturing Engineer. I was given the opportunity to work a project on a F-22 component that had a history of being troublesome. At the end of my 3 month internship, I presented to Program Leadership the history of the component and potential improvements that had been identified through a DOE that I was able to complete.

      Directed a diverse team (>25) of analysts, Manufacturing Engineers and Tooling Engineers in supporting daily production of the AH-64E Apache. Guided >25 Manufacturing Engineers and Planners in supporting the Electrical Center of Excellence. Supporting >15 platforms from across Boeing’s portfolio of aircraft. Lead training of multiple engineers and developed processes to standardize work scope and repeatably respond to and support customer needs. Managed multiple programs and projects. Built execution plans, expanded use and implementation of root cause corrective action events, and developed processes to eliminate errors and improve executability. Lead pre-product integration of multiple aircraft configuration bill of materials for multi-year programs. Coordinated with Program Managers for USG and FMS programs to identify and fix configuration issues prior to production. Created man hour estimates to USG and FMS for future programs and managed cost accounts for earned value. Lead Production ME of the Composite Main Rotor Blade for the Apache.Lead multiple ME's. Established work priorities and completion dates. Implemented improvements through application of Lean principles and SPC activities.Maintained and cultivated working relationships among different work groups and IPT's to meet quality requirements and delivery dates. Manufacturing Engineer on the AWACS re-mod program. Developed worked instructions and solved implementation problems as they related to re-mod requirements. Derived engineering requirements and work packages through heavy use of Catia in correlation to previous designs.Work responsibilities included correlating work packages between Kent, WA., Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma and Seattle, WA. Significant travel between all locations was required. Sustained and supported multiple work cells on the F-22 program. Implemented program shut down requirements for maintaining traceability and tool documentation. Supported blue streak shop for one-off machined components.
