      I served as a counselor at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville Alabama. At this position, I taught academy attendees in the engineering aspects of the space program, and ensured their safety was maintained throughout the week-long event. I had responsibility for a new group of eight students each week, ranging in age from 15 to adult, and ensured that they were in attendance at all scheduled events. Each group ended in a capstone event that was a simulated 24 hour mission in the Space Shuttle, International Space Station and Mission Control. Show less

      Mr. Brown currently serves as the Plans Officer of the Army Reserve Consequence Management Unit. Past assignments include serving as the Contracting Officer's Representative for the 485th Chemical Battalion in Wilmington, Delaware and 1 year overseas service under this role. He served three years as the Company Commander of 130th Chemical Company (Biological Detection), He has assisted with the development of standard operating procedures to respond to weapons of mass destruction incidents. He planned and conducted training, evaluated readiness, and reported the unit status to the Battalion commander. He also served as Company Training Officer, Physical Security Officer, Supply Officer and Maintenance Officer. He is a qualified operator of the Non Developmental Item (NDI) Biological Integrated Detection System (BIDS). I processed precious metal slurries containing rhodium, palladium and platnum and milled them to precise particle size for application and calcining onto a ceramic honeycomb. In my role, I also aided in the reclamation of a considerable amount of materials for recycling, and the installation of robotic equipment to process individual parts for testing.

      Mr. Brown is is responsible for planning, conducting, observing, evaluating and delivering supporting documentation for disaster response exercises. He was lead developer for the Joint Services Installation Pilot Project tabletop and functional exercises; Mr. Brown developed schedules, managed budgets and conducted briefings to base personnel involved. He coordinated the activities of the controllers and evaluators to ensure exercise objectives were met, and developed after action review materials. Mr. Brown has worked on a vast array of exercises, including CBRNE, hurricanes, earthquakes, maritime, pipeline and energy security and Avian Influenza. Mr. Brown is also currently lead developer for several exercises under the USCG Area Maritime Security Training and Exercise Program (AMSTEP), including the Coast Guard's participation in National Level Exercise 2009 (NLE-09).Mr. Brown was part of the core development team for the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) mobile course for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Office of Grants and Training (G&T). The course was developed using a blended learning approach to give the participants the maximum benefit in a learning environment. Mr. Brown's role was inclusive of instructional materials development, script writing for videos and activity development, as well as modification and review of materials during the piloting process. Mr. Brown also serves as an instructor for direct delivery of the course. He is currently engaged in the development of an independent study course for FEMA involving exercise conduct to provide a standard resource for new staff to consider when tasked with execution of an exercise by HSEEP principles, as well as a revision of the resident exercise design and development course.
