  While interning for National Oilwell Varco, I had the opportunity to work within the Technical Software Solutions, Training and Competencies, Integrated Solutions and Optimization, Materials, and New Product Development for Fixed Cutter Bits departments. I was able to work on a variety of projects, including database development for a new design software, developing an in-house wiki page for drill bit design information, aiding in development of a drill bit for drilling through steel casing, standardizing a procedure to test for thermal stability of different cutter materials, developing a new cutting technology specifically for drilling steel, data analysis and comparison for different cutting materials, development of a tiered approach to assignment of projects, and development of a new process for design and manufacturing of drill bits. I have worked in the five different departments over a period of four years and eight individual internships during the Summer and Winter breaks. Show less
