While in college, she specialized in designingfashionable and functional dresses, lingerie and swimwear for mastectomy patients. Bethany's mom, Bonnie Ritchie, was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 39 and underwent a bilateral mastectomy. Bethany's mom, Bonnie Ritchie, was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 39 and underwent a bilateral mastectomy. Although her mom handled her life and cancer with dignity and grace, it was very difficult.Bethany saw room for great improvement in cancer aesthetics and because of this found an opportunity to help women have a beautiful space during a difficult time. Bethany has owned Over My Head Boutique since January 1st, 2007. After moving the boutique to The Bing Cancer Center, Bethany became a Certified Mastectomy Fitter in September 2013. Bethany specializes in medical hair-loss, fitting wigs and hairpieces. Over My Head Boutique is a certified durable medical equipment supplier (DME) and is able to bill insurance for covered items.
