      We are involved in the isolation and biochemical characterization of adhesive mucus from gastropod snails. The focus of this research is some specialized glycosylated proteins that are present in this mucus. These proteins are responsible for metal-based interactions that provide cohesive strength to this mucus. These proteins are biodegradable, environment friendly and hold a promise to overcome many of the limitations of synthetic adhesives.
