      Jan 2024 - Jun 2024
      Practicum Student

The MSES program at Northwestern required students to participate in a project practicum consulting assignment. The project involved an extensive overview of students partnering with companies specializing in sustainability that had multifaceted problems. This involved a rigorous 6 month endeavor prioritizing communication, research, collaborative teamwork, and leveraging effective presentation skills. I consulted with a company called Tradewater— aiming to eliminate HVAC refrigerants. Refrigerants are fiercely powerful greenhouse gas emitters; there are variations in refrigerants with varying environmental impacts. The premise of the project centered around destroying older refrigerants from discarded HVAC systems. Our team determined the best outcome is implementing carbon credits for newer versions of refrigerants— which are not currently issued after destruction. Show less
