      Supervisor

As a Supervisor at the Save-A-Lot grocery store in Duluth, Minnesota, I had a variety of responsibilities. I opened and closed the store, counted the currency in the safe and delivered it to the bank, assigned tasks to coworkers, ran the register, cleaned the facility, organized and stocked shelves, broke down and sorted freight, and supported team morale.

This included getting to know students, helping them feel welcome on campus, patrolling the residence halls after hours, resolving disputes, and maintaining public spaces.

    • Itasca Community College Office of Engineering Outreach

      May 2013 - May 2015

During my time working in the Engineering Outreach Office at Itasca Community College I had a wide variety of responsibilities. These included such tasks as planning student life events, performing photography at student life events and academic functions, editing and ordering our yearbook and outreach posters, planning posts to the engineering department Facebook page, scheduling, coordinating, and leading campus and program tours for prospective students and their families, performing occasional facility maintenance and cleanup, and serving as a communication link between students and engineering department staff. Show less I served as a counselor for the ICC Summer Engineering Camps, both as a staff counselor and later as the lead counselor. During these on-site summer camps, I introduced middle- and high-school students to the world of engineering. This included teaching them the engineering design process, instructing them in the safe use of shop tools and facilities, and giving guidance on professionalism and presentation expectations. I was also involved in the planning and leadership of non-engineering activities such as trips to local entertainment venues, competitive sporting events, and other social activities. Show less

    • Iron Range Engineering Bell Program

      Aug 2020 - Dec 2022
      Engineering Design Facilitator, Intern

During my time as a Facilitator Intern with Iron Range Engineering's Bell Program (now IRE's Bell Model pathway) I supported the education of undergraduate student engineers. This included leading learning conversations on a variety of topics including the introduction of (and reflection on) the engineering design process, professional best practices, team dynamics, and more. I designed these learning activities, workshops, and support materials both with our Design Facilitator Team and independently. Of particular interest was the time I spent assisting student engineers in their explorations of the aerospace field. I worked with several students to design and work through aerospace-focused Student (Self)-Led Advanced technical competencies, providing technical resources, answering questions, guiding them through conceptual misunderstandings, and assisting academic staff in the evaluation of student's technical and professional work. Jul 2023 - Dec 2024
      Assembler, Aircraft Electrical Harnesses

As an assembler at American Precision Avionics I build electrical harnesses for private aircraft constructed by companies like Cirrus Aircraft. This process includes interpreting build processes and then cutting wire, soldering, crimping, routing conductors, connecting hardware, and then testing the finished product to ensure that it is ready to be installed in the aircraft. I am required to follow requisite standards established by both the client and regulatory bodies for testing, dimensional tolerances, terminal strength, and insulative properties in each product I complete. I work closely with engineers, and assist them in fixing problems and improving our build processes and quality controls. Show less
