  I was apart of the clinical assistant program (CAP) at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center during the summer of 2022. Under the supervision of my preceptor, I administered IV and PO medications to patients, and performed head to toe assessments. I emptied drains, obtained and documented vital signs as well as intake and outputs. I assisted patients in their activities of daily living such as feeding, bathing and ambulating.

  I completed both my public health and gerontological nursing clinicals at the University Settlement Neighborhood/Metzer Center. I obtained blood pressures, and researched health topics that my clinical group and I could teach to the senior citizens who visited this center. As a group, we taught classes focusing on men's health, so we presented on topics such as prostate cancer, mental illnesses, and the warning signs of an impending heart attack and stroke.

  I completed my obstetrics clinical at Lenox Hill. I gained an insight into the various roles in obstetrics by shadowing a labor and delivery nurse, mother-baby nurse, and postpartum nurse. I obtained and documented vital signs, and interpreted fetal monitoring strips with my clinical instructor. I performed head to toe assessments on newborns and administered their prescribed eye ointment.

  I completed my adult acute illness/immersion clinical at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. On the unit that I was on (M16- GI med/surg), I shadowed a registered nurse who helped me become comfortable and efficient in performing head to toe assessments on my own, and therapeutically communicating with patients. I helped ambulate patients on the unit, and emptying drains (i.e. foley catheter, Jackson-Pratt). With my clinical instructor, I administered IV and PO meds as well as injections such as Lovenox.
