That department closed down and I was moved to Planned Administrators as part of their HIPAA team traveling to our clients to train them in being HIPAA certified. As that was coming to an end because all had been trained I was offered a job as a claims manager at Companion Property and Casualty.   I began as a referral specialist with Palmetto Pediatrics and was supervisor within a year and a half of starting. I am now the sole supervisor of the referral department for 11 practices which include 40 doctors. Anytime a child is referred out by one of our doctors to a specialist they send us an electronic referral which the staff then prints the needed information, schedules the appointment and gets the information back to the parent and the doctor. Sounds quite simple but a very busy job making sure referral was received, that it is being handled as our doctor request, that we get in touch with parents to ensure they have appointment information.
