      Teaching Assistant

Serve as a teaching assistant to the Introduction to Biomedical Engineering course in the college of engineering at Cornell University.

    • Cornell University Biomedical Engineering Society

      Sept 2022 - Jun 2024
      Chairman of the Board

This role involves strategizing and implementing methods to create a community among biomedical engineering undergraduate students in which mutually beneficial relationships between underclassmen and upperclassmen are established. I have networked with Cornell alumni to establish a connection with undergraduate biomedical engineering students though organizing and moderating post-graduate career path events. During the fall 2022 semester I directed the society’s most attended event to date which included a panel of Cornell alumni either in industry, pursuing PhDs from Harvard and MIT, or in medical school. Throughout the semester, I lead and train a committee to host resume development, application review, and interview guidance sessions for biomedical engineering majors at Cornell University. • Butcher Lab

      Nov 2022 - Jun 2024
      Undergraduate Student Researcher

Over the past year, I have been studying calcific aortic valve disease with the Butcher lab at Cornell University using the lab’s 3D tissue engineered valve disease model. My initial research with the lab involved performing quantitative 3D compaction analysis to understand the relationship between endothelial cell monolayer breakdown and post-calcification matrix remodeling. I am currently pursuing an honors thesis with the goal of identifying potential therapeutic pharmacological targets for calcific aortic valve disease based on single cell sequencing data of the lab’s in-vitro model. I have helped to optimize our IHC/IF protocol for sectioning, mounting, rehydrating, staining, and imaging cross-sections of the 3D model to identify promising molecular candidates. I plan to perform further evaluation of candidates based on gain/loss of function experiments in vitro culture and validation in human valve sections before presenting my work at the conclusion of the academic year. • Regeneron

      May 2023 - Aug 2023
      Intern

I was able to contribute to the work of the department in which I was working, Process Sciences Integrated Manufacturing Support, by creating a website designed to serve as a database of instructional materials for any employee company-wide who is interested in learning about various manufacturing processes. I focused on investigating and compiling information related to various bioassays, predominantly high performance liquid chromatography. This project will be further developed and used to explain the science and deepen the understanding of how drug quality is ensured. Show less
