  I undertook a three-month placement as a research trainee in the Clinical Enteric Neuroscience Translational and Epidemiological Research Center(C.E.N.T.E.R.) in Mayo Clinic, Rochester under the supervision of the head of the centre, Dr. Michael Camilleri.During the placement, I undertook a study on chronic megacolon in adults, subsequently writing a paper on my findings, as first author, published in Digestive Diseases and Sciences.   I had a paid position as a Problem Based Learning(PBL) tutor for first year medical students in Trinity College Dublin. I also gave a series of tutorials to second year medical students on mechanisms of inflammation, cell signalling and immunology in their “Molecular Medicine” module. I facilitated peer learning and helped first year medical students in the module “Human Form and Function”, which comprises physiology, anatomy, molecular biology and biochemistry as well as elements of ethics and professional practice.   As part of my Master's in Public Health (Global Health) at Harvard University, I undertook a practicum/internship at the national Irish centre for infectious disease surveillance and control, the Health Protection and Surveillance Centre(HPSC). I spent five weeks full time there and then worked part-time remotely until the end of April. During my time in the centre, I led the yearly HIV community testing project, assembling data from national HIV testing organisations in Ireland and then compiling and analysing this data before writing a report on my findings alongside colleagues.   I have worked part time since spring 2023 with IHEED, an educational company which create online medical diplomas and professional courses, in this case a Professional Diploma in Infectious Diseases with the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland. I am employed as a "Subject Matter Expert" in global and public health. As part of this job, I designed educational content and served as the expert advisor for three weeks of this diploma, namely global health as it relates to infectious diseases, public health as it relates to infectious diseases and travel health. I also served as an advisor for tropical infectious diseases in children. I have been trained to work in the National Isolation Unit, the national clinical unit for management of High Consequence Infectious Diseases (HCIDs) which is located in the Mater Hospital.
