      2016 - 2019
      Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Epidemiology

My PhD uncovered new insights into the transmission dynamics of Ross River virus, Australia's most common mosquito-borne disease. Using a combination of mathematical modelling, laboratory experiments and ecological surveys I was able to identify spillover pathways between animals, mosquitoes and humans in South-East Queensland. The results of this study were targeted to deliver management strategies to mitigate future outbreaks of Ross River virus and was a collaboration between Queensland… Show more My PhD uncovered new insights into the transmission dynamics of Ross River virus, Australia's most common mosquito-borne disease. Ross River virus is Australia's most common and widespread arbovirus, and is associated with long term public health implications and economic costs. I am undertaking a PhD investigating the role of non-human reservoirs in the amplification and maintenance of Ross River virus in South East Queensland. The results of this study will deliver management strategies to mitigate future outbreaks of Ross River virus. The research involves the collection of field data, undertaking of laboratory experiments and developing a model. My collaborators include Queensland Heath and the University of Queensland, School of Public Health. Show less I assisted staff and academics by providing high quality pre-award (ARC and NHMRC) administration services to the Griffith University community and key stakeholders. Specifically my role required me to:• Provide expert reviews of grant applications to ensure compliance with scheme guidelines, University policies and procedures• Ensure that applications meet eligibility requirements and academic standards• Provide detailed feedback to researchers, including advice on ways to make research grant applications more competitive. • Perform other duties as required by the Research Grants Team Leader and Director, Office for Research. Jun 2020 - Oct 2024
      Senior Scientist

At Stanford University, I conduct advanced research on the climate and environmental drivers of vector-borne diseases globally. Utilising my expertise in spatial epidemiology, mathematical modeling, machine learning, and field surveys, I analyse and predict disease patterns and their environmental determinants. My work involves developing models, conducting field and survey research, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to address global health challenges. Through my research, I aim to inform public health strategies and contribute to the understanding and mitigation of vector-borne diseases. As a Senior Scientist within the Mordecai Lab, I support the lab leader to manage partnerships, communicate the teams research findings to media outlets, coordinate and facilitate conferences and workshops, supervise students at different academic stages and lead grant applications.
