I take a product from after it gets placed with customer service to just before production is ready to produce. Using our inventory system Sage XRP X3 I identify and allocate using FIFO raw materials used in blending as well as packaging supplies. Any material that needs to be ordered gets communicated to purchasing within 48 hours of the PO being received. A physical work order/pick list gets passed to the pick/pull team in the warehouse to verify and segregate raws for that blend. Once all raw materials come in I set up the pre-batch formula (if needed) and send it to our pre-batcher to make and send out the pre-batch for testing. Once the pre-batch is passed we schedule the blend to be produced. I also handle making the BPR's (Batch Production Records) for production. Not only do I handle operations related tasks but I am also part of our R&D team working on new products requested by our customers. Show less I run our dry blending department in Broomfield, CO. We currently run 3 Blenders (Ribbon/V-blender), 4 Mills (Pulva, Fitz, Buffalo, CO-Mill), and 2 Drum Dryers. I handle day to day employee schedules, hiring, and planning for our Broomfield manufacturing location. In addition, i work with our Operations Manager to plan out upcoming blends, make formulations, and solve issues with schedules. I deal with reviewing, updating, and creating SOP's for production and training employees on said SOP's. One of my strong talents is to motivate, train, and select future leadership. I am also very skilled in creating spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel for calculating gluten, HM, and/or solids % (drum drying) in final blends. I have done tracking spreadsheets for production goals, kg/labor hour, and process management. My automotive schooling experience has helped me tremendously here in a fast paced production environment. I have a mechanical aptitude that translates to being able to fix issues or communicate with maintenance and contractors easily. I love what i do and find great self rewards from helping my peers, employees, and customers by providing a quality product in a healthy and growing workplace. RFI has taught me and will continue teaching me many things about production, managing, and myself that i am very grateful for. Every day is a new and better experience that i can learn and grow from. Show less

I run the production department at The Bean, working with women to exemplify the proper work ethics so they can graduate and carry those skills to their new careers. The stories of the hardship that these women go through, overcome, and grow from is inspiring. They are convicted felons, recovering addicts, victims of domestic violence. Many were teenage mothers and high school drop outs. They come to us for a chance to create new lives out of the rubble theirs have become – and they do it in just six to nine months. That we train women to become great workers only so they can leave us and become great workers for other employers is remarkable and challenging. On average, 70% of women will graduate the Bean Project's program and move to career-entry-level jobs in the community. I have always had the sentiment that our current criminal justice system is completely flawed. We look at non-violent drug offences as a crime instead of a indication that a person needs help and treatment. Statistics like this one below make clear the positive change we are not only making in one live (our participant) but in society as a whole by reducing re-offences and the burden on our already over burdened prison system. Most women the Bean Project employs have histories of addiction and incarceration. The combined cost of a criminal conviction and one year of incarceration can exceed $70,000. Women’s Bean Project’s program, by comparison, costs just $18,000, including wages. Employment is the key to decreasing returns to prison. The number one indicator for re-arrest is being unemployed in the year prior to the arrest. Show less
