      Marketing and Communications Intern

Summer internship focused on marketing, fundraising, and event planning for the main annual fundraiser. A typical day consisted of creating and scheduling social media content, blog writing, and reaching out to local businesses and community partners to support our annual event. Much of the internship was based on cultural immersion including home stays with local families, visits to the communities that we worked with, working at the Awamaki textile shop in town as a cashier, taking language courses with a local tutor, and getting to know the experienced staff on site.
