      Launched and developed the Vinod Chachra IMPACT Lab to expand the workforce development capacity in the Commonwealth of Virginia in cybersecurity, geospatial intelligence, data science, and K-12 education.Increased access and enrollment at Radford University by serving approximately 3,500 working adults in underserved communities in a three-year period across 12 states.Incorporated innovative and emergent learning technologies to accelerate the career readiness of working adults.Secured 28 workforce development partnerships with companies and organizations in seven states.Awarded a $13.9 million U.S. Department of Education grant (U423A170051) to increase teacher effectiveness and workforce capacity in underserved communities in Appalachia. Show less As an Interim Assistant Vice Provost/Director in Academic Affairs, I was responsible for a budget of approximately $3 million, which entailed leading and managing the following departments and areas:Summer Sessions, Augustmester and Wintermester- Evaluate and develop online enrollment growth strategies. Wintermester and Augustmester are almost exclusively delivered online and Summer Sessions are increasingly delivered online.- Piloted a Quality Assurance program to assist professors with teaching online using techniques aligned with Quality Matters criteria.Innovation- Developed and launched RU Accelerate, a new program designed to recruit and retain the top 20% of applicants by offering an accelerated path to graduation and a research experience during the freshmen year. This pilot included developing a new online semester during the month of August now called Augustmester.- Co-chair the RU Futures Group, a campus-wide think tank, examining the short and long-term challenges and opportunities and to recommend one or more courses of action to more powerfully achieve RU's mission.Special Projects- Facilitated the approval of a STEM-H Bioethics Certificate, a joint program between the RU Philosophy and Religious Studies Department and Jefferson College of Health Sciences Humanities and Social Sciences Program. This approval required both the regional accrediting agency, Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia.- Consulted on the development of an Ed.D. proposal currently under review.- Managed Freshmen Convocation. (http://playfreshair.com/), a private commercial spin-off of R&D lab.• Received Outstanding Scholarly Activity Award for 2011.• Received One Million Dollar Circle Award for 2011.• Received Innovator of the Year Award from the Virginia Society of Technology in Education (VSTE) for 2011.• Received 2nd and 3rd place awards for both 2009 and 2010 Virginia Mobile Learning Apps Development Challenges.• Nominated by Radford University for the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) Rising Star Award for 2012 and 2013.• Created a YouTube channel (http://www.youtube.com/user/RadfordEducation) where graduate students taking classes created and uploaded technology tutorial videos for the larger education community, which have been viewed over 1 million times from ten different countries.• Principal investigator on a $533,239 National Science Foundation grant (Grant No. DRL-0822302), which developed augmented reality learning curricula using wireless handheld computers equipped with global positioning system (GPS) capabilities to improve academic and socio-cultural skills for rural, under served, K-12 school students (http://gameslab.radford.edu/ROAR/).• Principal investigator on a $1,679,965 Virginia Department of Education grant, which explored how iPod touches and iPads can be used to improve academic and socio-cultural skills for rural, under served, K-12 school students (http://gameslab.radford.edu/ilearn/).• Developed 20 K-12 iPod touch and iPad apps, which have been downloaded over 510,000 times from ten different countries.
