Here are some key highlights of my contributions:Image Curation and Annotation: I led the effort to curate and meticulously annotate a diverse dataset of ecological images. This dataset was instrumental in training a sophisticated object detection model on the Microsoft Azure platform. Surveillance of Desert Locusts in Kenya: I spearheaded the organization and coordination of surveillance activities to monitor and combat the impact of desert locusts in Kenya. Collaborating with a dedicated team of scouts on the PlantVillage Platform, we collected crucial data and insights to mitigate the ecological effects of locust infestations. This project underscored the significance of real-time data collection in ecological management.Data Cleaning Expertise: On a daily basis, I undertook the meticulous task of data cleaning on the PlantVillage platform. This hands-on experience provided me with deep insights into the nuances and challenges associated with working with crowdsourced data. This endeavor was pivotal in gathering diverse and representative audio data, a foundational step in our pursuit of innovative solutions.Enhancement of Speech-to-Text Model: Leveraging Microsoft Azure, I took on the challenge of fine-tuning and optimizing the speech-to-text model for Kenya accents. Through rigorous experimentation and refinement, I achieved a substantial improvement of 21%, enhancing the model's accuracy and accessibility.Child Literacy Assessment Application: With a focus on improving child literacy, I led a talented team in the development of an intuitive Android mobile application. I will explore methodologies to capture and analyze high-resolution data, enabling a deeper understanding of ecological systems on various scales, from landscapes to ecosystems.Crowdsourcing for Data Collection: In recognition of the value of collective intelligence, I will integrate crowdsourcing platforms to facilitate data collection. This inclusive approach not only expands the scope of data acquisition but also engages communities in ecological monitoring efforts, fostering a sense of ownership and collaboration.Artificial Intelligence and IoT Integration: Artificial Intelligence and IoT play a pivotal role in studies.
