      Store was bought over by Scotmid Co-Operative, the first of many. Responsibilities included customer service, cash handling, orders, training, and relief cover. I started writing my training manual when I was 19 as a way of training efficiently and giving staff confidence. I completed the manual while working in Scotmid by the time I was 22 and had it printed and rolled out across the company estate.

      The programme was designed for the next generation of managers to ensure they had the confidence and abilities to run stores effectively and profitably. The programme consisted of tutorials by our leading specialists in the company, 1 on 1 knowledge testing by the most competent managers in the company, studying in your own time before each lesson or meeting, store walks and knowledge testing with your Regional Manager, and a Final assessment. Areas covered were: Grow Aspire Workbook; Certificate for Personal Licence Holders; Level 3 Food Hygiene; Health and Safety; Financial Awareness; People Management; Profit Protection; Membership and Community; Operational Understanding and Newhouse Depot Visit; Compliance Awareness; Food to Go; and Store Walk and Presentation.Fully signed off November 2018. Became the youngest manager in the estate aged 22 in 2010 after graduating, managing a Small branch for 3 years before managing a Medium branch for 2 and a half years.Managed the branch as if it were my own business. Duties included man management; stock management; cash management; budget and forecasting; target setting; Customer service; training needs; merchandising; Legal Compliance; and Investigations. Also helped Regional management in the form of reports; contacting branches if and when required; visiting branches for investigative purposes; and test staff knowledge with quiz phonecalls. While managing my own branch I helped manage other locations when required. I also took on a project, that I started when I was 19, in my own time over a 6 month period. Formally writing a procedures manual to help those in training and ensure uformity among the estate. Show less I started a 'training guide' when I was 19 to help give confidence to new staff and management when learning the job. In 2011 I used the same guide when training a newly acquired Post Office team in Aberdeen when my Operational Manager approached me about making the guide official. I conducted various listening groups and 1 to 1s to get a better understanding of the information that would be more beneficial in the guide. I spent 6 months outside of normal working hours to produce the 'Procedure Manual' which was then distributed among the entire post office estate.
