  Paul Coates was appointed Treasurer/Chief of Staff of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Student Senate after portraying his leadership and dedication throughout the years. Paul started as a Student Senator and was involved on several committees through the Student Senate. As Senator, he brought business to politics by helping both students and faculty with balancing a budget, finding additional funding for the university, and helped answer students concerns. As Chief of Staff, Paul bridged the communication gap between the senators, directors, and executive team, planned senate events, helped to formulate the Student Senate General Operations budget, reviewed the financial records, monitored attendance of Senators, and planned the end of session banquet.   Paul Coates is trained to assess a patient’s condition, perform emergency medical procedures as needed to maintain a patent airway with adequate breathing and cardiovascular circulation until the patient can be transferred to an appropriate destination for advanced medical care. Interventions include CPR, defibrillation, controlling external bleeding, preventing shock, immobilization to prevent spinal damage, and splinting of bone fractures.   Paul Coates lead the Zeta Epsilon chapter as President after his 3 year involvement with the organization. He started his leadership as VP of Finance where he maintained the organization’s budget and helped to provide funding for future members. As President, he communicated effectively through the members, faculty advisors, university administration, and PSE National Headquarters by upholding, updating, and executing the chapter’s constitution. Paul lead each of the meetings and successfully incorporated the vision of the organization into their annual strategic planning, annual reports, and chapter efficiency reports. Through delegating tasks to the rest of the executive team, Paul helped to grow the organization to double in size through building up brand awareness on the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire campus. Paul is a current Life Member and Alumni Advisor of the organization, where he continues to communicate, develop, and lead the organization beyond his years as a student. Show less
