Oct 2012 - Jul 2015Open Day AssistantI took part in my first open day as a University Guide during my fourth week at Bangor, where key responsibilities included welcome people to the University and guiding them down to the correct department, as well as talking to them about Bangor and my degree. In my second year I began working opens days for my department, the School of Environment, Natural Resources and Geography (SENRGy). These opens days included once again talking to students one on one about studying in Bangor and SENRGy, as well as talking to larger groups about specific aspects of the degree and department. In my third year I worked for both the department and centrally for the University and also gave guided bus tours of the city and tours of the halls site. All of these open days gave me great experience in commercial awareness, always being careful of word choice and thinking about how what I was saying could be construed. They also improved my confidence in talking in front of large groups of people and to individuals. Show less

Abergwyngregyn Regeneration Company
Jun 2014 - Sept 2014Marketing and Communications InternBetween the 30th of June and 30th September 2014, an internship with the Abergwyngregyn Regeneration Company (ARC) was undertaken, working specifically on the Anafon Hydro scheme in the village of Abergwyngregyn on the west of the North Wales coast. Although employed by ARC, the main role of the internship was to work under the supervision of the three Founder Directors of Ynni Anafon Energy Cyf. (YAE) to help promote a proposed 270 kw run-of-river community hydroelectricity scheme in the Anafon Valley, near the village. YAE wished to offer shares in the development, in order to raise a minimum of £300,000 to make the scheme viable, before the end of November 2014. To launch the share offer, YAE were planning a festival in the village on September 13th 2014, the start of community energy fortnight 2014, to promote the scheme and the village and to hopefully attract investors. The main tasks undertaken in this role were as follows:• Set up and managed accounts for the company on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube; also used tweet scheduling software to set out 4 weeks’ worth of tweets for after I left the company.• Developed and managed the Abergwyngregyn Regeneration Company website, updating content and redesigning pages and sections where necessary.• Successfully teaching the use of social media to company directors unfamiliar with the sites• Trusted with representing the company when promoting the share offer and festival to business across North Wales• Helped plan, organise, set up and run the launch festival for the scheme, attracting more than 1,000 visitors• Successfully surpassed the £300,000 target by a further 50%, raising a grand total of £450,900. Keppler Farm s.r.o.
Jul 2015 - Feb 2016Groom and Farm AssistantAs part of my BSc Geography with International Experience degree I completed 7 months working abroad at Keppler Farm, an Organic Farm in the Czech highlands. Work was highly varied and ranged from, caring for all 42 animals (including sheep, chickens, horses, ducks and dogs), to general upkeep of farm equipment, facilities and infrastructure. Furthermore I was also tasked with researching new projects that the farm may want to consider taking on, as well as researching and contacting sellers for large purchases, such as a tractor. In addition to this, the role also included the management of other volunteers to ensure the efficient operation of the farm and to maximize the amount of work achieved in a busy environment with many different moving operational parts. Meee
Mar 2016 - Oct 2020Meee is a fantastically innovative and unique project which I was honoured to be a part off. The aim of the company is to inspire people to understand who they are, what they want and how they go about achieving it, to help them have a happy, successful and fulfilling life. Due to the time commitments of my PhD and research work at Bangor University I reduced my hours significantly in November 2016. However, because of my admiration for, and belief in the programme I continued working part time on the data analysis side of the role I was fulfilling previously. The main work in this role was on the analysis of questionnaires about the scheme filled in by participants of workshops and session. This required both qualitative and quantitative analysis to give a concise and meaningful view of the scheme to company directors and to aid with funding bids. Show less This was a three-fold role undertaken while working remotely from the business. Firstly, I led research and report writing on a wide variety of topics, to help propel the company forward in what was a time of development and expansion. Secondly, I was responsible for the qualitative and quantitative analysis and presentation of data collected on different topics from different sources, from data collected from client questionnaires, large national level datasets, used for benchmarking company progress. Finally, as well as taking over the running of the company's social media accounts; formulating an integrated, long term, cross platform plan, I also oversaw the development of the company's new website. Data Analyst
Nov 2016 - Oct 2020Researcher, Data Analyst and Website/Social Media Lead
Mar 2016 - Oct 2016

Bangor University
Nov 2016 - Jun 2023In this role I expanded the scale, complexity, and impact of the research started during my PhD, working collaboratively with colleagues from different disciplines enabling research innovation. Studying the whole of the British Isles, I quantified the impacts of future worst-case climate change on streamflows in 585 catchments, as well as the consequences for hydroelectric power generation at 531 locations. In doing so, I developed novel methods for the estimation of abstractable water resources and power generation for hydropower. In addition, I fulfilled project administration requirements, met the deliverable goals of the project in a timely manner, as well produced funder-obligated progress reports for the work package. Research in this role contributed to multiple peer-reviewed journal articles, as well as several international conference contributions, including as Lead-Convenor and Chair of an oral session at the American Geophysical Union Fall Meeting in 2021. Furthermore, in this role I also undertook science communication activities in the form of interviews for BBC Radio Wales and press articles in printed and digital media. I also increased my teaching commitments during this role, taking on greater responsibility for the design of module themes and assessments, as well as more varied teaching styles. Furthermore, I was successful in obtaining grant funding for innovative teaching technology for use across the School of Natural Sciences. Show less The research I completed in this role contributed not only towards the completion of my PhD, but also to the overall aims and deliverables of the Dŵr Uisce research project, a joint Ireland-Wales project looking at the long-term sustainability of the water distribution and use. My main duty in this role was the development and execution of a coherent long-term research plan, aligned with the project’s scope and deliverables. I achieved this through the completion of a three-stage research plan studying historical and future climate change and the implications of this on streamflow and hydraulic regime. In addition, I carried out an assessment of the knock-on impacts of the future streamflow projections on the availability of water for public supply and hydropower water abstraction. I completed this research through the use of hydrological modelling, GIS-based assessment and data visualisation, and appropriate statistical analysis, as well by using specialist software. In addition, I also published three peer-reviewed journal articles from this research, as well as contributed to numerous international conferences. This role also enabled me to gain experience in teaching and assessment, mainly in the form of invited guest lectures to specific modules, on topics related to my research, and follow-up assessment. In addition, my involvement with the Barcelona Field Course module (DXX-3003) gave me experience of organising and conducting international residential fieldwork. My roles in this module included delivery of content before, during and after the visit, assignments setting, and student support and guidance. Teaching experience during my PhD enabled me to complete the first stage of the Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education, gaining an Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (now Advanced HE).
