  At digital radio station Able Radio my role included booking and researching guests, conducting interviews and editing features. One of the highlights of my time at Able Radio was travelling to Scotland to spend 10 days covering the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. This was a voluntary, part-time role I undertook independently alongside my studies while at university.

  In response to the relative lack of live comedy events in Cornwall, I started an events business.Working with venues across the Duchy we showcase up-and-coming acts as well as booking established artists such as Greg Davies, Jack Dee, Romesh Ranganathan and Jon Richardson.

  As a director and co-founder of PixelRain Limited I was involved in all areas of business development, marketing and media production.PixelRain is a video production company working with leading UK leisure and lifestyle brands. We partner with PR and Marketing agencies to help them deliver compelling video content as part of integrated marketing campaigns.Our integrated campaigns with Barefoot Media and Watergate Bay Hotel for the Veuve Clicquoet Polo on the Beach 2012, 2013 and 2014 won silver at the National Travel Marketing awards and two gold awards at the prestigious Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR), South West England Pride Awards.   In this role split across Unlocking Potential and the Business Innovation and Knowledge Exchange (BIKE) project I was engaging with university undergraduates, delivery partners and SMEs across the business support programmes: Graduate Start-up, Graduate Placement, Brighter Cornwall, the Growth Programme (in partnership with the University of Plymouth) and the Postgraduate Placement Cornwall programme (in partnership with Falmouth University).I was responsible for planning and delivering industry-facing events to bring together students and employers to network and to show off the skills and technical facilities that the College had to offer businesses. My role also involved creating marketing and media content to promote our programmes as well as case studies about our student and entrepreneur success stories. Show less

  Next Steps Cornwall

  Marketing and Events Manager

  Next Steps was part of the National Networks for Collaborative Outreach (NNCO) scheme funded by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) and was a collaborative project led by Falmouth University in partnership with the University of Exeter as well as all of the HE providers in Cornwall and Cornwall Council.My role involved developing and executing the outreach strategy in collaboration with the Network Manager as well as contributing to the continuous improvement of the programme delivery through feedback and evaluation. On a day-to-day basis, I managed the marketing strategy, delivered workshops and outreach activity as well as training and managing student ambassadors from the network of HE providers.Next Steps was invited to present to NNCO and HEFCE to inform best practice recommendations for other projects across the national network. Following the successful pilot Next Steps has expanded and involves fourteen partner universities and colleges throughout Cornwall, Devon and Somerset. Show less

  In this role I worked across the Unlocking Potential employability and business development programmes, helping graduates with their career progression; and supporting entrepreneurs to build businesses that are innovative and resilient for the future. I facilitated on our business support and employability workshops and provide feedback, coaching and guidance to clients on our programmes.At our Breakthrough workshops I worked with entrepreneurs to explore the viability and opportunities of their business model, working with them to help drive success for their business. I managed the Unlocking Potential Jobs board and supported businesses to recruit. I helped them to scope their job adverts to thoroughly define the business goal and purpose of the role, ensure marketing was compliant with the law and then support the promotion of their vacancies with engaging media content.A significant part of my role involved delivering presentations and attending networking events aimed at engaging a range of audiences including SMEs and business support partners. These included: the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Enterprise Adviser Network, Growth Hub On the Road (Growth Hub and Cornwall Chamber of Commerce Outreach activity), Reed in Partnership and Cornwall Digital Meet-up.   In this role I am working in the Innovation, Impact and Business (IIB) team on the SETsquared programme, the global number one university business incubator.I lead on the Student Start-up programme in Cornwall and support academics to commercialise their research and university intellectual property.In the first eighteen months of my role, I have:• Twice supported Exeter academic teams as a Technology Transfer officer on the Innovate UK ICURe programme• Been shortlisted for the IIB Rising Star award • Been recognised with three 'Above and Beyond' awardsThe Start-Up team was also nominated and finished as finalists in the achievement category of the 2021 SETsquared Awards.
