  I grew the IVY student bar project from a simple idea into a viable business proposal that has the potential to contribute greatly to the quality of student life at Old Aberdeen campus. I have identified a clear niche in terms of student orientated services on campus. With support from the University and Estates office, I procured a centrally located house, in Old Aberdeen, with an extensive 600m2 garden. Throughout 2 years, I have conducted market studies, drew up a business model and through negotiation with multiple city council officers, contractors and my architect, I managed to produce a proposed layout that meets all fire safety, sanitary and health and safety regulations. Overall, I remained flexible and adapted to changing circumstances, engaging in recursive self-improvement. The planning application for change of use and listed building consent has been rejected by the Aberdeen City Council and appeal to review the decision has been lodged to the Scottish Government. Although the appeal was unsuccessful, the networking base from this project had opened a lot of doors and significantly aided future ventures. Show less

  Startup Manager - Lightbulb Competition ABVenture Zone

  Runner-up in a start-up competition held at the University of Aberdeen. 12 start up projects participated in the event which was sponsored by Santander UK. The judging panel, which included business advisors, university professors and business managers, secured external validation for the IVY Bar proposal.

  Sponsorship Officer - LEVEL-UP! Student Employability Conference

  My role as Sponsorship Officer focused on contacting potential sponsors and establishing whether they could offer financial aid. I was tasked with contacting potential speakers and arranging their workshops as well as their transport and accommodation. Moreover, I was responsible for preparing the venue, managing several volunteers as well as organising a networking social event.

  UNI:TRIX aimed to be an all-in-one student app for UK Universities. It connected students to local independent businesses, providing exclusive deals and tickets to events. Moreover, it offered a student marketplace and planned to assist students with finding jobs. The app aimed to introduce a feature that will enable societies and sport clubs to create free bespoke profiles and advertise any events they are offering.

  To compliment UNI:TRIX, Penta Tech Solutions LTD aimed to develop and launch a Smart-Occupancy-System, that will enable students to find free study space on campus and also provide Higher Education Institutions with a comprehensive analytics tool, to assist their Space Management practices. Our solution aimed to monitor the occupancy of any floor or room of a build-ing, in real-time, using state-of the-art camera technology. I coordinated with app developers to improve design & content as well as creating promotional material for our service. I successfully completed Axis Communication Academy training and developed a thorough proposal for the IT department for the installation of our Smart-Occupancy-System at the University library.   The ABVenture Zone at the University of Aberdeen supports growing businesses and encourages entrepreneurs to develop new products and services. ABVenture Zone is an incubation space for new start-up and spin-out companiesResponsibilities during my internship include organising the annual start up competition, Lightbulb Business Ideas. This involves managing volunteers, securing & setting up venues, developing and implementing a marketing campaign and collaboration with other on campus organisations to successfully promote our events. I am also working in close collaboration with Santander UK where I assist with the promotion and organisation of other competitions such as the Converge Challenge, Elevator UK Summer Accelerator as well as the Santander University Entrepreneurship Award.   Spotting an opportunity in Aberdeen nightlife, I co-founded student focused Bohemia. We targeted niches in the nightlife industry, and Bohemia was and continues to be a success with all events bringing in 100-300 people. My duties in the day-to-day running of the business include: management of staff, handling financial matters, promotion and marketing as well as securing venues and music equipment. Moreover, we successfully developed a strong networking base throughout Aberdeen and are plannning subsequent events in Edinburgh University and St. Andrews University. Show less
