  CULTROMICS: ISOLATION AND IDENTIFICATION OF BACTERIAL ISOLATES FROM ENVIRONMENTAL AND CLINICAL SAMPLESMy research was conducted in the Microbial Type Cell Culture (MTCC) facility at CSIR-Imtech under the supervision of Dr. Srinivasan Krishnamurthi. My work included isolation of extreme halophiles from goa salt pan regions and isolation of culturable gut bacteria from patients (suffering from Inflammatory Bowel Disease) stool and biopsy samples using the culturomics approach. Extended work was also done for the efficacy of Faecal Microbiota Transplant therapy in patients with IBD using stool DNA subjected to metagenomic analysis. Various techniques such as isolation, primary identification, preservation were done for isolates. As well as, DNA isolation, PCR amplification, 16S rRNA targeted sequencing, and identification using polyphasic approach. Show less
