  • Investigating steroid hormone preservation in proboscidean tooth and tusk dentin samples to reveal insights on musth histories, development, and behavior in woolly mammoths and American mastodons.• Utilized mini-CT visualization of tusk growth increments, planning of sample paths to approximate monthly growth, fine-scale serial sampling via micromilling to collect samples of tusks, and steroid analysis via liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry (LC/MS-MS) and isotope analysis.• Presenting at NAPC conference with 1000+ attendees on neonatal endocrinology of proboscideans by reconstructing growth records in juvenile tusks via sulfate steroid analysis.• Examining “paleoendocrinology” as it affects modern medical, anthropological, and forensic studies. Biodegrade 1,4-dioxane in an ecologically relevant way via the use of bioreactors.• Presented our project in Paris at iGEM conference, winning two Gold Medals in 2022 and 2023 and placed top 5 in the Diagnostics section in 2023.• Researching antimicrobial drugs, antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) and encapsulin proteins for mass distribution. • Won Gold Medal in GoGEC (Global Open Genetic Engineering Conference) 2023 for our work on AMPs.• Teaching advanced genomics and synthetic biology topics to 30 club members.• Modeling 3D protein structure of encapsulin-AMP interactions via Alpha Colab software.• Performing experiments including Gibson Assembly and LAMP to measure differential fluorescence.
