      My career at WCOV started as the day shift studio cameraman responsible for controlling cameras during live newscasts as well as commercial production. I was later promoted to Master Control Room technician responsible for switching between local programming and the CBS Television Network. In 1977, I began working part-time at WCOV Radio as a weekend disc jockey and in January 1979 was hired full-time to anchor and report news and as a backup weekend disc jockey.

      During this time period I was also a freelance reporter/stringer covering major Alabama news stories primarily for NBC Radio News. I also performed freelance/stringer reporting work for, among other news organizations, CBS Radio News, BBC Radio Ulster, Voice of America, the Texas State Radio Networks, and Newsweek.

      I served as morning news anchor for the legendary 740 “Big Bam” and “99 FM.” I also served as a reporter covering local news and state government.

      ARN was a statewide radio network providing more than 70 stations in Alabama with hourly newscasts. I anchored newscasts and was the Alabama State Capitol reporter covering the governor's office, legislature and state agencies. I also served as interim farm director responsible for producing a 15 minute morning farm show as well as five minute updates throughout the day.

      I was part of the team that put together Montgomery's first all news-talk radio station. In addition to reporting on local, county, and state government stories, I also served as a news anchor during my entire time there. In addition to that, from 1987 until 1990 I was also the news and program director, and chief operator of the station in charge of maintaining transmitter logs and public information files required by the Federal Communications Commission.

      I am the nonpartisan Public Information Officer for the Alabama House of Representatives. Among the duties assigned to this office are:I. Services to Members Provide talking points to members to use at speaking engagements. Perform research for members. Compile statistics on legislation during legislative sessions.II. Services to Members and the Public Schedule and give tours of the House Chamber in the State House as well as answer questions from the public and news media via telephone and email. Supervise the operation of the House Member Services Office. Supervise the operation of the House Information Desk. III. Services as part of the Clerk’s Office Serve as a desk clerk and reading clerk in the House Chamber during legislative sessions. Included in duties; preparing the chamber for session, check and call the roll, preparing Journal Approval form, preparing Second Readings form, and maintain the calendar for the Bills and Duplicating Department. Serve as House liaison to the Governor’s Office for the annual State of the State address. Serve as House liaison to the Silver Haired Legislature.
